BILLY CORGAN Blasts COURTNEY LOVE On Twitter
April 27, 2010The Pulse of Radio reports that SMASHING PUMPKINS frontman Billy Corgan has blasted HOLE singer Courtney Love on Twitter, just ahead of the Tuesday (April 27) release of the first HOLE album in 12 years, "Nobody's Daughter". According to Antiquiet, Corgan says that Love's "lack of responsibility" led to her losing custody of her teenage daughter, Frances Bean Cobain, and that Love herself should retire to "live off [late husband Kurt Cobain's] money" and "sleep knowing (she has) no honor."
Corgan also ridicules Love's songwriting abilities, tweeting, "If you can't write your own songs maybe you should just be happy that you fooled someone into doing your work for you." This last comment seems tied to the recent revelation that Corgan did not want Love using any songs they wrote together on "Nobody's Daughter".
Corgan told RollingStone.com last month that if Love used any of the songs they wrote together on the album, "It would be a real big problem, because I haven't given my permission." He added that after 20 years, he broke off his friendship with Love, saying, "I have no interest in supporting her in any way, shape or form. You can't throw enough things down the abyss with a person like that."
"Nobody's Daughter" follows Love's disastrous 2004 solo effort, "America's Sweetheart", as well as a long period in which she made headlines for drug problems, court battles, online rants and, finally, the custody battle over Frances, who now lives with her grandmother and aunt.
The SMASHING PUMPKINS have released a new track called "Astral Planes" and will issue the EP "Teargarden By Kaleidyscope Vol. 1: Songs For A Sailor" on May 25.
